Lime Crime swatches & review

Hey guys, I received my first two Lime Crime products a few days ago! How exciting. I had been debating for months whether or not I was going to purchase some LC lipsticks. I was looking and swatches, reviews, you name it. I finally decided to give in and buy an Opaque lipstick and a Velvetine.
I purchased "Babette" and "Suedeberry" from Makeupnet which I will post a link down below for you guys to check out if you haven't already.

This is the super cute packaging that the Lime Crime products came in. I seriously love this unicorn business they have going on.

Sorry about the switcheroo.

Babette, the opaque lipstick, like all their others, come in a purple bullet case. It has a unicorn on it and some fancy stars. Twist base. On the website, it was stated that Babette is a pastel coral, which is a sibling to the well known "Coquette".
Suedeberry Velvetine is in a package similar to a gloss. It has a frosted compartment, with a metallic twist lid. I love the product, but I'm not a fan of the frosted feeling. Suedeberry is advertised as a shade similar to that of the iconic Marilyn Monroe.

 Suedeberry has a doe applicator.
This makes it slightly difficult to apply as this lip product requires a clean line and finish. However, it is stated on the box that it works best when a lip liner is applied first, and then filled in with Suedeberry.

Babette is a bit more matte than I expected. It is creamy, don't get me wrong. But a little dry. The consistency reminds me slightly of Rimmel lipsticks because they aren't AS moisturising as some other lippies that I have tried. Also, the colour is a bit different than what was shown in the picture. When I receieved it, I swatched and was actually concerned that I was sent the wrong colour. I did some research, and fair enough, some other people had the same issue, that the colour was different to previous ones. I'm a little bit disappointed that it's not the colour I had hoped it would be, but nevertheless, it won't go astray. I definitely need to venture out with my corals.

The colour lasts.. a decent amount I suppose, probably about 2-3 hours for me, WITHOUT drinking or eating. otherwise BAM -- colour is transferred and gone for good. Ultimately, the colour is still beautiful, just a little dry on my lips.

Suedeberry Velvetine is just.. wow. I am honestly never one to use matte like lip products, simply because I naturally have dry lips. I should probably drink more water or something. Anyway, this is probably the first matte product I own. Swatched on my arm took longer to dry and set than it did on my lips. It takes about maybe 1-5 minutes to set. The colour is like CRAZY WOW SO BRIGHT. I honestly could not believe how brightly pigmented this product is! It is insane, I'm telling you. I love it.

I probably wouldn't be able to wear this as an everyday part of my look right now due to restrictions with my make up, but wow. I just cannot wait to play around with this when I am able to do some more eye make up. It is a lovely, lovely colour and I am so glad that I got my hands on this bad boy. Yes, I am a bit hesitant on the whole "matte" side of it. It is a little drying for me, or maybe it's because I'm not used to that level of dryness on my lips. But I mean, it does look super velvet on the lip, so it definitely lives up to it's name as a Velvetine.

Once this baby is on, it's on. As stated, it is touch proof, smudge proof, and kiss proof. The best part is, when removed with make-up remover, it doesn't leave a red stain on your lips! Holy cow. I am well-renowned for constantly touching up and re-applying, but with this, it is definitely a holy grail.

Overall, I do like the products. I prefer the Velvetine over the Opaque lipstick which I am actually surprised. I never thought I'd see the day I'd prefer something over a bullet lipstick. They are lovely products. The lipstick was $23aus, and the Velvetine was $24. Postage was a flat rate of I think about $8-10, but it was express so I got it in like, 2 days. Hooray.

I honestly think I'd have to try out some of their other lipsticks to see how they go, and if they differ on how dry or matte they are, but I guess for now it'll have to wait. Oh. And these products smell like heaven in a jar. Seriously smell freaking amazing. Like.. Vanilla and candy and oh wow. I gave in, I had to try these products. If you want to try them, go ahead! I went for it because Babette and Suedeberry are rarely ever in stock.

Thanks for reading guys. Sorry about the lengthy post. Hopefully it helped in any decision making! xo
